Work & history
Mikhail Rogachevsky is an Australian artist whose work is characterised by a distinctive use of colour and abstraction. He grew up on Boonwurrung land in Narrm, Victoria, and studied multimedia before completing a graduate degree in Psychology at Victoria University. An early pull toward drawing gradually evolved into painting, with informal mentorship and training from visual artists in Melbourne and Paris.
Working primarily with acrylic paint, Mikhail combines materials, techniques, gestures and movement to give each piece its own emotional tone. His visual language draws from abstract expressionism, surrealism, graffiti, pop art and graphic design.
He is based near Melbourne, developing a new series of portraits. He also curates the Coded Art Exhibition, creating opportunities for emerging and established artists to present work in a public gallery setting.
