Mikhail grew up on Boonwurrung land in Narrm (Victoria, Australia). He studied multimedia at during his highschool years and earned his graduate degree in Psychology from Victoria University. Mikhail always had a magnetic attraction toward drawing which later evolved into painting. He spent a number of years receiving informal training from visual artists in both Melbourne and Paris. Currently, he resides near Perth, Western Australia, where he is working on a series of portraits. Much of his art was refined in his backyard shed-studio in Yugambeh Country (Gold Coast, Australia). Mikhail developed a distinctive style of colorful abstract paintings, using a blend of acrylic paints, materials, techniques, movements, and expressions to apply a unique quality to each piece.
Mikhail paints as a way of engage in his own art therapy, giving him the space to regulate emotions. It also allows him to concentrate his full attention on the subject as way of deep contemplation. He is inspired by the beauty he perceives in personalities and the profound connections forged through chance encounters. He reassembles seen objects in his distinct style, reflecting his background in multimedia design and innovative artistic approach. His evocative, sensual paintings blend personal narratives, abstract ideas, and spontaneous expressions. His distinctive style encompasses elements of abstract expressionism, surrealism, graffiti, pop art, and graphic design.
Mikhail curates the ‘Coded Art Exhibition,’ providing ten artists the opportunity to showcase their work in a public gallery. His artwork has been featured in recent exhibitions and is attracting attention from collectors worldwide, with pieces showcased yearly at Surface Festival.
